Let us pray...

We thank you, Lord God, for brave and believing people who brought your message to this place. Let us not forget them, especially Rev. Dr. R. H. (“Bill”) Duke and the founding members of Southminster Presbyterian Church. By their energies this church was gathered, given order, and continued. Remembering all those Christians who have gone before us, may we follow as they followed, in the way, truth, and life of Jesus Christ, the head of the church.

God of comfort, stand with those who sorrow, especially today; give them assurance that neither death nor life, nor things present nor things to come, shall separate them from your love.

We rejoice to know of all who, through the ages, have placed their trust in you: apostles, prophets, saints, and martyrs and all the humble believers whose names are long forgotten. Give us assurance that we belong to this great company, and that we may also find the peace that passes understanding;

We praise you for all your servants who, having been faithful to you on earth, now live with you in heaven. Keep us in fellowship with them, until we meet with all your children in the joy of your eternal kingdom;

Thank you for all who have fought the good fight, finished their race, and kept the faith, and for those dear to us who are at rest with you.
