2011 Nominations Requested

The Nominating Committee invites suggestions from the congregation of persons qualified for nomination to the office of Deacon or Elder. The committee anticipates needing nominations for both Deacon and Elder in 2011.

Please prayerfully consider the qualifications of those whose names you suggest and determine their willingness to consider serving prior to returning this form or contacting a member of the committee. The active term for both Deacons and Elders is three years.

God gives necessary and appropriate gifts and talents to people who are called to exercise special functions and duties in the church. Deacons and elders, in addition to cultivating and possessing the necessary, God-given gifts for ministry, should also be people of strong faith, dedicated discipleship, and love of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Their manner of life should be a demonstration of the Christian gospel in the church and in the world. They must have the approval of God's people and the concurrence of the Session.

Elders

In both Old Testament Israel and the New Testament Church, God provided elders as people with particular gifts to share in governing and ministry. Elders should be persons of faith, dedication, and good judgment. Their manner of life should be a demonstration of the Christian gospel, both within the church and in the world.

Deacons

The office of deacon as set forth in Scripture is one of sympathy, witness, and service after the example of Jesus Christ. People of spiritual character, honest repute, of exemplary lives, brotherly and sisterly love, warm sympathies, and sound judgment should be chosen for this office.
