Session Retreat May 21-23, 2010

Camp Olivet

The theme for this year's retreat was celebration and thanksgiving for our gifts: gifts of membership, gifts of leadership, and gifts of discipleship. The retreat concluded Sunday morning with a celebration of Pentecost and the Lord's Supper.

Session received with regret the resignation of elder Jan Albert, offering expressions and prayers of thanks for her service and support for our sister in Christ. We reviewed the directory of active members and friends throughout the retreat with a view toward establishing better care of member needs. We reviewed staffing and finances, Capital Campaign, and Loving Hearts Learning Place. We met with Sean Kelley (Youth Director) and with Ron Rockey (Business Administrator and Candidate for Ministry). We discussed three mini-projects that we might begin prior to significant Phase II planning commences:
1. Landscape
2. New Sign
3. Patio Adjacent to Sanctuary
Session again discussed the demographics of the Congregation and the need for growth. We recognize that we should be actively trying to add 25 new people per year that are regularly attending. We discussed impact on our physical space and the possibility of opening up new worship seating in the Gathering Place.
