REGULAR SESSION MEETING

The meeting was called to order by the moderator.
A quorum was declared by the clerk.
The meeting was opened with prayer by Pastor Glover.
The agenda was approved by consensus.

Pastor Glover shared a reading from Psalm 131.

Gary Straber, Hospitality Team, shared a written report with Session.

Pastor Glover shared a reading from Exodus 20: 1-17. Everyone participated in an exercise led by Pastor Greg.

Roger Walter, Membership Committee, shared a written report with Session.

Elder Larry Hanni moved that session approve moving David Wakeland,Denise Jarrett, Stephanie Johnson, Le Ehrlich-Blair and Hollis Ehrlich-Blair from the Active Membership Roll to the Inactive Membership Roll on August 10, 2010. The motion was seconded and approved.

The written Treasurer’s Report, prepared and presented by Ron Rockey, Business Administrator, was received by Session.

Elder John Koeller moved that the minutes of the Regular Session Meeting on June 8, 2010 are approved as written. The motion was seconded and approved.

The following written Committee/Activity Reports were received by Session: Hospitality Team, Membership Committee, Treasurer’s Report, Elder Glenn Brower and Clerk of Session Report.

Elder John Koeller moved that the Chair of the Personnel Committee be allowed to select members of the Personnel Committee. The motion was seconded and approved.

Elder Glenn Brower and Pastor Glover led a discussion pertaining to the upcoming meeting with COM (Presbytery) on Wednesday, August 25. Members of Session were encouraged to attend and participate in the dialogue at the meeting.

The following is offered as information:

Our congregation was provided a detailed written report on what took place at the Presbytery Meeting in Muncie on June 2. The information included the approval of Presbytery that allows the Southport Presbyterian Church of Indianapolis to be dismissed from the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).

A Town Hall Meeting was held on Sunday, June 13 after the worship service. The topic for the meeting was Missions. Pastor Glover also shared information concerning the annual budget and other items of interest with the congregation.

Emerson Barclay (Elder) died on June 15, 2010. The information has been recorded in the Church Register.

Dr. James Snapp, Franklin Township Schools, presented information pertaining to Fast Track (donation of school supplies) during the worship service on Sunday, June 20, 2010. Our church will be participating in the project.

Items were collected for the Westminster Neighborhood Ministries for May and June on June 27. The special mission offering for the month of June will go to the Olivet Foundation.

Camp Olivet Information for 2010: 53 campers attended the Junior Week and 57 campers attended the Senior Week. Thanks to all of the volunteers who served at Olivet this year. Thanks to Sean Kelley, Claire Coons and Brent Walter for directing the camps this year.

On Monday, July 19 our Youth Groups hosted 53 individuals (39 youth participants and 14 adult supervisors) from Presbyterian Churches in Columbus, Bloomington, Jeffersonville, Evansville, Washington, Terre Haute, New Albany, Corydon, Spencer, Madison, Scipio (all from Presbytery of Ohio Valley/Indiana) and Kanapaha, Florida. Our guests spent the night at the church. Meals and snacks were provided by Southminster. They were in route to Purdue University to attend the 2010 Presbyterian Youth Triennium. Grace Glover and Alex Gill, along with Sean Kelley, Youth Director, attended the event at Purdue.

Our church hosted LifeLine Screening, sponsored by St. Francis Heart Center, on Wednesday, July 21.

Ron Rockey filled the pulpit on Sunday, August 8.

Communion was celebrated on July 4 and August 1.

Communion was celebrated at Camp Olivet on July 8 and July 15.

Communion is scheduled for September 5,

The next regularly scheduled Session Meeting is on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at 7:00 PM at the church.

Elder Michelle Straber moved that the meeting is adjourned. The motion was seconded and approved.

The meeting was closed with prayer by Pastor Glover.
