Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover

In April of this year, the Christian Education Committee sponsored a 13 week class titled "Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University", led by Joel and Miranda Rockey. The class was designed to help us all make wise decisions about how to budget our money and get out of debt. Those who attended were unanimous in their praise for the class and felt that they learned some valuable principals on money management. On October 1st, at the Pepsi Coliseum, from 6 - 9:30 PM "Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover", will be presented.

One Month to Live, adult small group study

Have you ever wondered what you would do if you learned that you had exactly 30 days to live? Would you change your schedule? Would you do something you always wanted to do but were afraid to act on? Would you have any relationships to mend? Would you need to forgive or be forgiven? Would you treat those you love differently? Would you spend all your money or give it away, travel the world, buy a Mercedes? It is an intriguing question isn't it?

3rd Annual Opportunity Fair

The 3rd Annual Ministry Opportunity Fair will be held immediately after worship hour in our new Gathering Place on Sunday September 27th. Various committees and groups here at Southminster will present a booth or display showing us what they do and each of us will have the opportunity to volunteer for those areas in which we are interested. So if you are interested in singing in the choir, teaching a class, or volunteering in our crib or toddler room this is where you can sign up. Maybe you would like to be liturgist, a greeter. or do special music.

Sunday School at Southminster

On Sunday August 30, four Sunday School students will be promoted during our worship hour. Also, our Sunday school teachers will be commissioned. Teachers for the fall quarter are: Claire Coons, Kathy Walter, Fran Brower, Tammy Gill, Sharon Davis, Janet Coons, Gary Straber, Brent Walter and Michelle Straber, Greg Glover, Ron Rockey, Bill Clark, and Chris Coons. John Rockey and Janet Ingle will assist with substitute duties. We have added a new class this fall, a 1st & 2nd grade class. David C.

Garden project and proceeds update

The garden project is keeping a few of us very busy. If you don't know the location of the garden it is on the Marlin farm at 5252 Hickory Road, just around the corner from the church. Each week these few people do the picking on Friday and transport the proceeds to our vegetable stand in front of Southminster for sale on Saturday. Our most popular items are corn, greenbeens, and tomatoes. We are in need of helpers to pick and to work in the stand on Saturday mornings. Produce we do not sell are taken to a Adult and Child Center on Emerson. If you can help call Janet 889-7852.

The Garden Project

Southminster's garden project is up and running, offering corn, tomatoes, greenbeans, cabbage, melons, cucumbers, summer squash, zuccini, beets, onions and pototoes. We will have pumpkins in time for Halloween. Our produce stand is open here at Southminster every Saturday morning from 9 AM - 1 PM. Always, always we are in need of volunteers to work the produce stand on Saturdays and to help with the picking, weeding, and some planting.
