Christian Education Committee Meeting
Monday, February 8, 2010 6:30pm
Present: C. Coons, J. Coons, S. Davis, J. Ingle, K. Walter
Not Present: R. Gill, K. Rockey
I. Parents’ Night Out
A. Saturday, February 13, 2010, 5pm to 10pm.
B. Have 8 children enrolled, enrollment open through Wednesday, Feb 10.
1. one infant
2. two toddlers, will combine with the infant in one room
3. one 2 year old
4. one 3 year old, will place in 2 year old room
5. two 4 year olds
6. one 8 year old, will place with 4 year olds, may encourage the 8 year old to be a “helper”
C. J. Ingle will inform S. Larkey Wednesday of the final number, so she can plan the
menu.
D. J. Ingle will see what games are available, provide more if needed, and schedule the
events of the evening.
E. The plan will be to show the movie “Up” and provide a snack later in the evening.
II. Youth Group Trailer Name
A. There were several names suggested, and the top 3 voted on by the youth were given to J. Ingle for this committee’s discussion.
B. S.S. Wor-ship, “The Ship” for short, was selected.
C. K. Walter will email Sean Kelley and let him inform the youth.
III. New Sunday School Class
A. Larry Lane, son of Charles Lane, has offered to teach an adult SS Class.
B. It will be based on a video series called “That the World May Know.”
C. Pastor Glover will review the material to approve the class.
IV. Lenten Plays
A. Will be told from different animals’ perspectives.
B. Will replace the Children’s Story during lent.
V. Easter Egg Hunt
A. Planned for April 3, 2010.
B. Sarah from LHLP will provide face painting.
VI. Sean Kelley
A. Following Session approval, he is willing to lead Youth Group through
August.
B. He may not be able to direct Camp Olivet if he receives a full-time job after
graduation in May.
C. He may be able to lead Youth Group past August, dependent upon time constraints
from a full-time job post graduation.
C. When discussed, Sean agreed it would be beneficial to have a second adult
present during Youth Group; J. Ingle will request volunteers.
