Christian Appalachian Project - Kentucky Mission Opportunity

Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) is a non profit inter-denominational mission and is the 11th largest human services organization in the United States. Last year CAP serviced over 2 million residents of the more that 400 counties that make up beautiful Appalachia. Appalachia experiences high poverty rates, low education levels, limited health care and many more hardships associated with its remote geography. Some of the programs sponsored by CAP are disaster relief, compassion baskets, spousal abuse help, tutoring, school readiness backpack and individual giving programs. Southminster hopes to field a group of mission volunteers to Appalachia in 2011. CAP offers individual, youth, and group missions and will be taking applications/reservations for summer 2011 missions soon (Fall of 2010). I have placed a green folder, complete with a DVD, in the Gathering place. If you are interested in a possible mission opportunity, please feel free to take the folder home and review it at your liesure. In the folder you will find many a phone number for any questions you may have. Afterwards, if interested please talk to Chris Myers, Pam Sapoff, or Janet Ingle.
