LHLP Board Minutes 03/10/2010

Loving Hearts Learning Place Board Meeting
March 10, 2010
Members present: Claire Coons, Dennis Pitts, Kathy Walter, Sarah Maple
As an update on LHLP, there are 58 children with 5 new babies coming.
Two new part time staff have been hired for three days a week.
Next week will be the last week for Michelle Lupomech, lead teacher of the fours who will be moving away. A new lead teacher has been hired.
In the next two weeks, registration for next year will be held.
We discussed whether a fee should be charged to hold a place in a preschool class over the summer and agreed that this is not necessary.
In a discussion of the discount policy for members of Southminster, it was decided to over a 10% discount of the fees for the services they choose to use.
LHLP plans to open a new class in August that will use the extra room on the lower level. The classes will be divided in a new way.
Infant to 10 months
Young Toddlers-10 to 20 months
Older toddlers-20 to 30 months
2 ½ to 3 ½ Year old class
3 ½ to 4 ½ Year old class
Pre Kindergarten and half day Kindergarten enrichment class
The downstairs classroom will need a divider between the room and the end where church things are stored. Kathy will check with Roger Walter on ideas for this. Some furnishings for the room will need to be ordered and more cubbies will be needed.
We discussed offering a camp option for school aged children in the summer. There is a need for this. We agreed that this is something we may want to offer in 2011.
The rummage sale is coming up on April 16 and 17. On March 21, an insert will be in the bulletin again asking for volunteers.
Sean Kelley is going to talk to the youth group about volunteering to help. We had an earlier idea about them providing food for sale at the rummage sale. We will talk to Janet Ingle and Sean about this. Kathy will check on coat racks that could be used to display clothing at the sale.
Ideas for advertising were to use Craig’s list, the Informer, the portable sign, and the Wheatley Bull.
The next meeting will be Wednesday, May 12 at 6:30.
