Town Hall - Missions - June 13th

Please plan to join us in the Gathering Place immediately after the worship service on June 13. The topic for this Town Hall will be Southminster's planned mission activities this year. The Missions committee will discuss the upcoming PCUSA Youth Triennium in Lafayette, Indiana, their involvement with a mission trip to Haiti, the possibility of an upcoming all-church mission trip and other missions with which they are involved. Pastor Glover will open the meeting with remarks on budget and other items of interest to the church congregation.

Seeds for Haiti

I recently received the following message from Melanie Hardison and I urge our support:
The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has been working closely with partners in Haiti since the earthquake on January 12. Recently one of our partner networks has identified a need and asked for our assistance.

Haiti Earthquake: Presbyterian Mission Response

Dear Friends,
Because of the recent visit to Southminster by Mark Hare, Presbyterian missions co-worker in Haiti, many of you have asked how we can help in the current disaster. I am copying below the message sent today by the Whitewater Valley Presbytery detailing the initial response by our denomination and indicating how we may help. I will update you as we learn more.
Please join me in praying for our neighbors in Haiti.
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Greg

Presbytery Message

Dear Whitewater Valley Presbyterians:

Missions Visit Featured in Presbyterian News Service

Mark Hare's visit to Southminster was featured as a story on the Presbyterian News Service on October 15 in a story by reporter Bethany Furkin entitled ‘Life in Haiti abounds’. The story provides a great summary of the presentation Mark made to the Southminster youth groups and congregation. If you were not able to attend, catch up with this mission event online at http://www.pcusa.org/pcnews/2009/09887.htm.
