Eleanor Adams retires as Church Secretary (1/21/2007)All of us have received a note at one time or another that was signed "Ela". And you knew it was from Eleanor Adams, who has served as Southminster's secretary in 1983. Since that time she has seen a lot of changes in staff and leadership. But the one constant was Eleanor. This year, she has decided that it is time to spend more time with her family - especially the grandchildren. On January 21, 2007, we will attempt to say "thank you" for all the years of dedicated and faithful service by joining with Eleanor to celebrate her retirement. We pray that she has an enjoyable and fulfilling retirement! Thank you Eleanor!

Ron Rockey accepts part-time position for ministry training (12/5/2005)We've recognized it for a long time. Pastor Greg saw when he first arrived. Ron Rockey has been a influential teacher, counselor, guide and leader for many years - serving the Southminster family in several capacities. We have been witnesses to his Sunday School teaching for several years, heard him preach from the pulpit on occasion, and have heard his lesson at Olivet and as a Young Leader. God has begun to move Ron toward the service of Ministry. With the support of Session, the congregation and friends - Ron is pursuing a time of discernment, inquiry and preparation for full-time ministry. We praise God for His influence, and promise to keep Ron and Janice in our prayers as he seeks the Lord's call.
Southminster forms Facilities Task Force (7/3/2005)The Dream Team has reported their "dreams" for Southminster's efforts to achieve it's vision of "making disciples both near and far". The Dreamers have completed their facilities report. The report was submitted to Session in June. They will continue at a later date to develop their programs portion. In response, Session has called, and the congregation has blessed, the formation of a Facilities Task Force. This group is charged with taking the vision of the Dream Team and making it a reality. The members of the FTC: Larry Hanni (Chair), Carley Gioe, Susie Larkey, Julia Luebkeman, Debbie Rockey, Steve Pfendler and Joe Woods. Roger Walter is an ad-hoc member of this committee as well. Pray for their work.
Southminster welcomes the Glover family (July 14, 2003)
Following presbytery approval on May 24th, and a unanimous vote during the special Congregational Meeting on June 8th, the Ministry of Pastor Greg Glover officially began on Monday, July 14th. He was greeted on his first day by a parking lot full of Sr. High Campers on their way to Camp Olivet. After spending an evening at the Junior Week of Camp and an entire day at the Senior Week, Pastor Greg got a feel for what the Camp experience was all about, and why people are so excited about this mission of the church. Following his first week in the pulpit, the Glovers traveled back to Smyrna, TN for Greg's Ordination Service at First Presbyterian Church of Smyrna on July 27th. It was a beautiful service, and the congregation of First Presbyterian reluctantly said their good-byes to the Glover family thanking them for their service to the church, and blessing their new ministry at Southminster. It has been a whirlwind summer for the Glovers. As Greg, his wife Beth and their two daughters, Grace and Christina, continue to unpack boxes and learn their wayaround Indianapolis, be sure to call the church office, speak to them at church,or send an e-mail to re-introduce yourselves -- and welcome them to the Southminster family.
